The Foreign Minister held an emergency meeting in which the Ministry’s Undersecretaries, Advisors, and Official Spokesman attend to discuss measures regarding the recent U.S aggression, and directed the summoning the Ambassadors of the United States and UK to Baghdad.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim Ali met with Ambassador of People’s Republic of China to Baghdad Mr. Zhang Tao.
Minister Alhakim praised the efforts of the Ambassador in supporting Iraqi-Chinese relations, expressing his hope that the relations will reach advanced stages of strategic nature in a manner that meets the aspirations of the two friendly peoples, and achieve their common interests in progress, prosperity, and development.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim discussed with Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, the Cypriot Foreign Minister the prospects for upgrading bilateral relations between the two countries by signing a number of memorandums of understanding, and activating the memorandum of understanding for political consultations between Iraq and Cyprus.

The two Ministers also discussed accelerate the holding of the International Conference for Reconstruction and Development in Iraq.

Dr Fu’ad Hussein the minister of foreign affairs has met on Sunday 18/10/2021, the U.S. special envoy for Iranian Affairs Mr Robert Maley in Abu Dhabi, during the meeting they discussed the political and security developments in the region and its reflections, and the U.S. Iranian relations and means of enhancing the introductory dialogues which were previously conducted between the two sides.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim gave the opening speech at the first session of the Ministerial Council at its 152nd regular session at the level of Foreign Ministers.
Minister Alhakim’s speech included an update on the situation in the Arab region, including: Iraq’s urging Arab and regional countries and the international community to support the new Sudanese government to achieve stability and maintain the unity of Sudan, stressing the continuation of support for the Palestinian issue, raising the momentum for demanding the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and... Foreign Minister Mohamed A. Alhakim received a phone call from his Iranian counterpart Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif, Mr. Zarif extended his congratulations to the Minister on assuming the duties of Foreign Ministry in the elected Iraqi government and expressed his hope that the bilateral relations will develop significantly during his tenure.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim received a phone call from British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Mr. Andrew Morrison. The two sides discussed the latest developments in the region, the situation in Iraq, and the government’s measures to meet the demands of the demonstrators through the reforms launched by the government.
