Below are highlights from a speech given by Andrea Leadsom, UK Energy Minister at the Iraqi Petroleum Conference 2015.

Only with strong and stable energy partners across the world can we achieve secure access to energy, a well functioning energy market and stability to plan for the future. Recent events in Russia and Ukraine have made this clearer than ever.”

Iraq’s energy potential

The United Kingdom will send an additional 125 military trainers to Iraq to counter the rising threat from the Islamic State, Prime Minister David Cameron said Sunday at the G-7 summit.

The prime minister's office said the military personnel were being provided at the request of Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi. They will chiefly help Iraqi forces learn how to deal with improvised explosive devices, or IEDs.

The World Affairs Council of Greater Hampton Roads hosted Ambassador Faily for a program and remarks during his recent visit to Norfolk, Virginia.

President Masum talks about the state of the Iraqi army; the war against Daesh; sectarian divisions in the country; and the role of both the United States and Iran in Iraq.

Iraq's Oil Minister said exports from the south reached three million bpd for the first time in the country’s history.

Iraqi armed forces are fighting every day, Iraqi Ambassador to the United States Lukman Faily told CNN Friday.

"Every day we are having fighting in Anbar, and all other fronts that we have," Faily told CNN's "New Day" program. "The army is doing it, and the people of the Sunni tribes are all doing it together."

"We are all having this fight," said Faily. "This is our fight, and we need help, but this is our fight."

His Excellency Prime Minister Dr. Haider Al-Abadi received a phone call on May 25, 2015 from United States Vice President Mr. Joe Biden. Prime Minister Al-Abadi and Vice President Biden discussed increasing support and training for Iraqi forces, intensifying air strikes, and expediting armament to the Iraqi forces. The leaders also discussed developments in the field of operation sectors. Vice President Biden renewed support of the U.S. Administration to the Iraqi government and its people to destroy Da'esh.
