Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Noori al-Maliki has arrived in the United States, where he will meet with President Obama on Friday, for discussions on the importance of the U.S.-Iraq relationship under the Strategic Framework Agreement; in addition, ways to enhance cooperation in the many fields covered under the SFA. The Prime Minister and President Obama will also speak about the security relationship between the two countries and ways to combat terrorism, a concern of both Iraq and the United States.
The Prime Minister will also offer remarks and a discussion about the current challenges facing Iraq and the region at the United States Institute of Peace. The event will be live-streamed on our website. For more information about the public event on Thursday, click here.
The Prime Minister is joined by Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Acting Minister of Defense Saadon Al-Dlimi, Iraq’s National Security Advisor Falih Al-Fayyadh, members of Iraqi Parliament and other officials.
