Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki recently sat down with the Washington Post’s Loveday Morris in Baghdad to discuss the government's strategy to fight al-Qaeda in Anbar province, in addition to providing an overview on military cooperation with the United States.

Dr. Sami Al- Araji, NIC Chairman signed on the 13th of Feb.17 the affiliation of Iraq to the United Nations Convention on Transparency in Treaty-based Investor-State Arbitration (for the year 2014) at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Iraq is the second Arab country that affiliates to the convention preceded by 18 international members.

The Atlantic Council hosted Ambassador Nazar Al Khirullah on July 26 in a seminar attended by a number of senior researchers and experts specialized in Iraqi affairs in Washington, where H.E. shed light on the priorities of the Iraqi government at political, economic & security levels, and the prospects for cooperation between both countries according Strategic Framework Agreement SFA, so as to achieve common goals and interests for Iraq & US .

Washington, DC (June 5, 2014) – In response to several queries regarding the U.S. government’s recent decision to terminate immunities granted to the Development Fund for Iraq and other Iraqi entities, the Embassy of Iraq would like to make the following clarification:

The Republic of Iraq welcomes the decision by the U.S. government to remove decade-old immunities that were granted to protect certain Iraqi financial entities and sectors from lawsuits following the collapse of Saddam Hussein’s regime.

Ambassador Nazar Al Khirullah received the former US Deputy National Security Advisor, Mr. Stephen Hadley at the Embassy building as they discussed the prospects for the future of bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States of America as well as issues of common interest in the region and the world.
