Statement by Iraqi Ministry of Defense Denying the Alleged Arms Purchases with Iran

The Government of Iraq today steadfastly denied that it has signed any contracts to buy military weapons, ammunition or other military equipment from Iran, as alleged in some recent news reports. In a statement, Iraq’s Ministry of Defense explained that numerous international firms, including Iran’s Defense Industries Organization, recently submitted offers to provide Iraq with military hardware, but the proposal from Iran was rejected.

Al-Halboosi arrives in Washington and meets US Defense Secretary

The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi met the US Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan as the official reception ceremony conducted at the Pentagon.

At the beginning of the meeting, the US Secretary of Defense offered his condolences to the Iraqi people on the ferry incident, expressing his pain and sympathy with the victims, welcoming the visiting delegation, stressing the importance of developing relations and communication between Washington and Baghdad.

Conference TARII

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington held an evening reception for a group of Iraqi and foreign professors and researchers who participated in the TARII Conference, a conference in which the embassy participated and discussed over two days (3-4 November) the various pieces of research regarding Iraq's history and its present culture. During the reception, Professor Peter Wynne, President of TARII, was recognized for his efforts in promoting academic cooperation between research institutions and researchers from Iraq and the United States.

Study in Iraq" Program Launched to Attract International Students for the 2024/2025 Academic Year

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington is pleased to announce the launch of the "Study in Iraq" program aimed at attracting international students to Iraqi universities for the 2024/2025 academic year. The program offers 14,322 academic seats from 59 governmental and private Iraqi universities. 57% of these seats are allocated to full scholarships, while 43% are for partial scholarships.
