President Barham Salih on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, mourned the Iraqi Archeologist Dr. Lamia al-Gilani, who passed away at the age of 80, in Amman.
His Excellency lauded the prestigious status of the deceased and her distinguished efforts in the field of archeology.
The following is the full text:
"We have received with deep pain and grief the news about the death of archaeologist Dr. Lamia al-Gilani, one of the first Iraqi women, who excavated the rich archaeological heritage of the country, and she was an expert in Sumerian seals.

President Salih met today with dozens of family members who lost loved ones during the infamous Anfal genocide of the 1980s.

Taking care to listen to all their concerns in the Al Salam Palace in Baghdad, the President stated clearly that this violence was a genocidal act aimed at the Kurdish people and will forever be a wound that is never fully healed in the hearts of all Iraqis. On Monday, October 18, 2021, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih congratulated Iraqi people on the Occasion of the Prophet Mohammad birthday.
It is of great occasion to inspire the noble values and to learn the lessons that should be taken from fragrant biography of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in making peace, fraternity and brotherhood among human beings, Iraqi President Salih said.
Iraq is going through a critical juncture, and enormous challenges and major national tasks are still ahead of us, he underscored.

President Salih received today in Baghdad Member of the British House of Lords and Executive Head of the Iraqi-British Trade Council, Baroness Ema Nichelson.
Together, the President and the Baroness discussed the international support to boost security and stability across the country. Furthermore, they reviewed political developments at the region and the world as well.

President Barham Salih received the Turkish Foreign Minister Mouloud Gawishoglu, in Erbil, Monday, June 10, 2019, and discussed with him the latest political developments in the region.
During the meeting, they emphasized the need for cooperation and coordination as well as the adoption of keen dialogue among all parties in order to unify efforts to address the current crises and to steer clear of the language of threat so that the peoples of the region enjoy stability, security and economic prosperity.

President Barham Salih has arrived to Baghdad, today Monday, April 1, 2019, after an active participation in the Arab summit in its 30th session in Tunis.
On the sidelines of the summit, His Excellency met with a number of kings and leaders of brotherly countries, as well as with the UN Secretary-General, and the EU's Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Chief.
The President also delivered Iraq's speech at the summit, in which he asserted that the basic principle of Iraq's international relations is joint action with all on the basis of common interests.

Into the Presidential Palace in Baghdad today, holding a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, President Salih stressed the importance of continuous coordination and joint work which would avert Iraq and the region the conflicts and the war. We don't want our territory to be a staging post for any hostile action against any of our neighbors, or be as a battleground for a proxy-war, he added.

President Salih congratulated today Iraqi police forces and all its formations, commanders, officers and soldiers, on the occasion of the anniversary of founding.

In the presence of His Excellency Prime Minister Adil Abd Al-Mahdi and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Hassan Rouhani, in Baghdad this evening and at the end of the joint talks' session, a number of memoranda of understanding were signed in the fields of oil, trade, health and transport for the establishment of railways between Basra and Shalamjah, visas facilitating to Businessmen and investors.
