Ambassador Issues Statement Condemning Boston Attacks

April 15, 2013, Washington, DC

I was deeply shocked and saddened by the bombings in Boston that left so many people dead and wounded. The government and people of Iraq stand with our American friends in condemning this reprehensible attack on innocent lives at an event known for bringing together people from around the world in a spirit of brotherhood and friendly competition. Having experienced so many senseless acts of violence ourselves, the Iraqi people sympathize with the American people in their grief, and we are reminded of the importance of our partnership in confronting terrorism together. Our deepest condolences go to the victims and their families, and we pray for the swift recovery of all the injured.
