Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Dr. Haider Al-Abadi Receives Commander of US Central Command Gen. Lloyd Austin

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Dr. Haider Al-Abadi met today in his office Commander of US Central Command Gen. Lloyd Austin.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Al-Abadi noted that Iraqi security forces were making advances with confidence to regain every inch of Iraqi land and expel Daesh terrorist gangs.

He highlighted efforts to bring back life to the cities that have been liberated and as part of post-liberation plans.

For his part, General Austin expressed congratulations for the victories and successes achieved by the Iraqi forces, and welcomed support and participation of the local tribes and cooperation of Iraqi citizens. He hailed the achievements of the Iraqi armed forces and noted their efforts to liberate cities, hold ground and cause Daesh terrorists heavy losses while sustaining minimal losses on their side. He reiterated the United States' support for Iraq and affirmed intentions to continue to meet the needs of the Iraqi army in areas of training, armament and advice.
