Prime Minister Al-Abadi drops pending lawsuits against journalists

Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi has dropped all pending lawsuits filed by the Prime Minister’s Office against journalists. The order comes as part of the Prime Minister's commitment to freedom of expression and support for the press.

It also represents Prime Minister Al-Abadi’s desire for the media to take a leading role in the rebuilding of the country and to contribute to public opinion in a manner that serves the interests of citizens and emphasizes the unity, stability and sovereignty of Iraq.

On this occasion, we call on the media and journalists to work responsibly and contribute effectively towards building a state of institutions. This is the approach of the current government and the Prime Minister and we trust that the media will assist in meeting the needs of all our people.
