Board of Commissioners Member calls on civil society organizations to contribute effectively in upcoming IPE

On February 3, 2014, during a workshop in Baghdad entitled the "Electoral Surveillance", Board of Commissioners (BoC) Member Ms. Gulshan Kamal invited the civil society organizations (CSOs) to contribute effectively in the upcoming Iraqi parliamentary elections scheduled for April 30, 2014.

The workshop was organized in cooperation with the international foundations for electoral systems (IFES).

Ms. Kamal urged the CSOs to actively and effectively take their roles in building the new Iraq through urging and educating Iraqi voters to practice their constitutional rights and duties by taking over their e-cards to ensure the participation in the voting process of the upcoming electoral process.

The event also addressed procedures that covered the local observer's work and their role in promoting confidence and transparency in the electoral process, as well as the importance of electronic cards project.

The IHEC has begun the process of distribution of electronic voter cards to the Iraqi voters through the electoral offices deployed across the country.
