Condemnation

Iraq Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Foreign Ministry condemns in the strongest terms the series of bombings that struck the Republic of Sri Lanka and resulted in the loss of innocent lives and dozens of wounded targeting churches and hotels in Colombo, Negombo , and Batticaloa during the religious ceremony of Easter.

This criminal attack confirms that terrorism has no religion, no homeland, and that it aims at life in all its forms, and that all human manifestations are targeted by hateful terrorism and even worship places, markets and all places of human gatherings are not immune to its evil , and that its elimination requires concerted international efforts and joint cooperation among all States.

Iraq has suffered for many years and fought the fiercest battles, provided processions of its finest youth, and drained a lot of material resources until the victory of our heroic forces in its recent battles against Da'esh terrorist gangs.

Iraq declares its sympathy and solidarity with the Sri Lankan people, and its readiness to provide all that would lessen the effects of this painful terrorist incident.

May Allah grant mercy to the victims and the wounded a speedy recovery.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman

Dr. Ahmed Al-Sahaf
