Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Syrian Foreign Minister Mr. Walid Al-Moallem on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly.
Minister Alhakim affirmed the depth of Iraqi-Syrian relations, and Iraq’s adherence to elevating them to broader prospects that serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples, noting the convergence of views on the need to adopt political solutions to resolve crises and not to interfere in the affairs of other countries.
Minister Alhakim expressed Baghdad’s keenness for the need for concerted regional and international efforts to combat terrorism, which has become a global threat to all.
The two Ministers also discussed several issues of common concern and ways to deal with the current challenges in the Arab region.
