Foreign Minister Meets with UN Secretary-General’s Advisor on Sexual Violence in Armed Conflict Ms. Pramila Patten

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with the UN Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Sexual Violence in Armed Conflict, Ms. Pramila Patten, on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The meeting reviewed the efforts exerted by international organizations in supporting Iraq in various fields.
Minister Alhakim stressed that Da’esh terrorist gangs committed the most heinous crimes against humanity and violated the sanctity of women, pointing out that Iraq is ready to cooperate with the United Nations to lift the injustice suffered by Iraqi women, calling for the importance of intensifying work in Iraq and adopting projects.

Minister Alhakim pointed out that more efforts are needed to protect and support victims of crimes of sexual violence, expressing Iraq’s readiness for joint cooperation with the office of the representative to work to empower Iraqi women and protect them from all manifestations of violence.
