Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with his US counterpart Mr. Mike Pompeo on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat Da’esh in Washington.
The two sides discussed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations at all levels. They also exchanged views on the latest developments in the region and the importance of intensifying consultations on regional issues and the challenges facing their stability.
Minister Alhakim expressed Baghdad's aspiration to support and strengthen bilateral relations between Baghdad and Washington, reflecting their strategy and stressing the need to cooperate to achieve the common interests of the two friendly peoples.
On his part, Mr. Pompeo stressed the need to support Iraq and respect its sovereignty and constitution by all.
