Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah on the sidelines of his participation in the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit held in Beirut.
Minister Alhakim expressed the great interest Baghdad attributes to the Palestinian issue and its implications for the security and stability of the Arab region reiterating the firm Iraqi position that is based on the establishment of a Palestinian state with Alquds as its capital.
Minister Alhakim was keen to listen to the assessment and vision of Al-Hamadallah on developments in the Palestinian territories and support for the rights of the Palestinian people stressing the need to improve the economic situation and the standards of living of Palestinian citizens, which contributes to alleviate the humanitarian crisis they suffer.
