Interview with an official at the US Agency for International Development (USAID)

Iraqi climate envoy Dr. Ali Al-Lami,held on 2/14/2023, a meeting with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) responsible for the climate file in the Middle East region, Dr. Alona Bachi. the envoy expressed his appreciation for the environment-related programs and projects funded by the agency in Iraq, including training courses to developing the capacities and capabilities of the Iraqi staff, and they discussed a set of proposals that were prepared within Iraq’s needs in the field of preserving the environment and reducing the effects of climate change, which need support and funding from the US Agency for International Development, and he invite the agency to actively participate in the work of the International Conference on Environment and Climate in Iraq, which is scheduled to be held in Basra city on 3/12-13/2023, as it is the first of its kind to focus on the Iraqi environmental reality and the effects of climate change on it, as it is one of the countries most affected by these variables, which needs regional and international cooperation to control its effects in addition to supporting national plans.
