Iraq Approves Anbar Infrastructure Funds

After a recent meeting between Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and representatives of Anbar's local government, the Iraqi government allocated 82 billion Iraqi dinars ($70.6 million) for the rehabilitation of Anbar's infrastructure.

"The projects include the energy, water, roads and bridges sectors, reconstruction of public service buildings damaged in terrorist attacks that disrupted them or knocked parts of them out of service," Iraqi government economic advisor Salam al-Quraishi said. Local and foreign companies will take part in reconstructing these services, he said, adding that work is expected to begin at the end of next month.
