The International Disarmament Conference, held on June 25, 2013 at the Palace of Nations in Geneva, and participated in by UN member states, marked the first time Iraq's Foreign Minister addressed the Disarmament Conference.
Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari delivered remarks in which he stressed that he represents a country committed to ideals of multilateralism; he also recognized that Iraq’s presiding over the conference symbolizes its new position in the international community and fulfillment of its obligations as a responsible and active member in the international community.
