Imam Hussein bin Ali (peace be upon him) always calls to us to follow the paths of freedom, goodness, raising awareness of social issues, and peace, President Salih said in a speech delivered in Iraqi Kurdistan today.
While participating in the Ashura ceremony at the Baraznja mosque in Iraqi Kurdistan, President Salih mourned with attendances as he recalled the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). “Remembering the unique personal values of Imam Hussein bin Ali (peace be upon him) throughout history allows us to embrace his Islamic morality and his humanitarian ideas for overcoming any adversity,” the president said.

Peace, mercy and blessings of Allah be upon all of you,
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
From Barzanja, the center of the values and the thoughts of the Prophet Mohamed's Family (peace be upon them) in Kurdistan, I condole you and I condole myself on the martyrdom of the Imam of the free people Hussein bin Ali (peace be upon him). As we are remembering this painful memory, we are also looking forward to the higher values, nobility, and greatness of the words and deeds as materialized by Imam al-Hussein (peace be upon him) and his companions.
Remembering the unique personal values of the Imam Hussein bin Ali (peace be upon him) throughout history requires us to remember his Islamic morality, his humanitarian approaches for overcoming adversity, and how he sacrificed himself for his beliefs. There, in Karbala, after the martyring of Imam al-Hussein, the area became a beacon of moral values and humanity. Humankind will never forget the Battle of Karbala and what it represents.
We should draw inspiration from the meaning and value of this great intellectual and humanitarian in order to establish the values of justice, equality and integrity in our world. Our country needs this spirit to unite our people and help them with rebuilding and reform.
Iraqis fighting against ISIS and achieving victory gives us a glimpse of Hussein's revolution. Moderation, the rejection of fanaticism as well as addressing oppression and despotism - these are the timeless values that Hussein bin Ali and his Followers (peace be upon them) were killed for. It is a lesson for all generations.
On behalf of the entire world, Arabs, Kurds, Turkmen, Muslims, Christians, Yazidis and Sabeans - all Iraqis - fought valiantly and defeated terrorism.
The unification of all Iraqi forces within the Iraqi Armed Forces, the PMF, and the Peshmerga emphasizes our unity in defending this sacred history.
Iraq is a land of the prophets, and defending this history is our responsibility. Preserving our nation’s security, stability, prosperity, dignity, and independence are the priorities and responsibilities of every citizen, regardless of their station in life.
Peace be upon Hussein as he unites us by saying one word and keeping our dignity.
Peace be upon his wounds, his patience and his steadfastness.
Peace be upon his renewed humanitarian message for all times.
All the Immortals die, and the death can't diminish their acts.
