Iraqi climate envoy Dr. Ali Al-Lami, met on 2/14/2023, with the Iraqi-American expert, Dr. Saud Amer of the US Geological Survey (USGS) who specializes in remote sensing techniques for water resources in the Office of International Programs of the US Department of the Interior. The meeting focused light on how to benefit from data systems and translate engineering systems designed for this purpose, and discussed issues related to aspects of cooperation and support provided in training Iraqi staff, especially staff of the Ministry of Water Resources, with regard to calculating water quantities, installing sensors for weather phenomena and monitoring natural phenomena by satellite, and training on how to use the Water Resources Monitoring Program as a data-rich and self-sustaining resource.
