Minister Fuad Hussein Receives Foreign Minister of Islamic Republic of Iran

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received the Iranian Foreign Minister Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif, and the two sides held extensive discussions related to developing relations between the two countries, and ways to advance bilateral cooperation.

Minister Fuad Hussein praised the close historical relations, joint cooperation and unity of visions that bind the two countries, stressing his keenness to enhance and consolidate cooperation with Tehran in various fields in a way that benefits the interests of the two peoples.

The two sides discussed diversification and strengthening frameworks of joint cooperation in various fields, including infrastructure projects such as railway linkage, electricity, trade, investment and confronting the viral pandemic.

The two Ministers also touched on the latest regional developments of mutual concern, and the importance of joining efforts to meet the challenges in support of regional security and stability, and the importance of undermining external interventions.

On his part, Mr. Zarif praised the course of bilateral strategic relations between the two countries, stressing that his country supports the unity and sovereignty of Iraq, expressing his country’s aspiration to develop joint cooperation at various levels, especially at the present time as the region witnesses successive challenges that requireconcerted efforts to prevent external interference and intensify coordination on the background of the influence Iraq has in the region.
