Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs regrets that the authorities of the province of Catalonia declared unilateral separation, which contradicts the principles of the Spanish Constitution of 1978, that this decision would endanger security and peaceful coexistence in the Kingdom of Spain.
Therefore, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry calls for restraint and adherence to the provisions of the Constitution in a way that ensures the preservation of territorial integrity and sovereignty. It also affirms its stand with the friendly people and government of Spain in facing this challenge, which targets the unity of the country and democratic values.
