The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi on Tuesday received former US Ambassador to Iraq and researcher at the Middle East Institute in Washington Robert Ford.
During the meeting, H.E. the Speaker discussed the political developments in Iraq and the security stability achieved after the victory in the war against ISIS terrorist organization.
The speaker also discussed Arab and regional developments, pointing to Iraq’s role in maintaining balance in the region, urging the United States and the international community to expand the partnership with Iraq politically and militarily and to contribute to the reconstruction and building in cities liberated from extremist terrorist organizations and help in the return of displaced people.
For his part, the former US ambassador expressed his happiness for the political and economic development and security stability in Iraq, stressing the readiness of the Middle East Institute to contribute to creating a constructive dialogue in the region to achieve peace and freedom and support democratic institutions.
