The Foreign Ministry is following with great interest the situation of Iraqi students studying in China after the authorities closed the city of Wuhan, where they reside due to the spread of Coronavirus.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim directed the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in China to form an operations room headed by Ambassador Ahmed Tahsin Barwari, whose task will be to coordinate with the Chinese Foreign Ministry office in Wuhan to work to provide services to them, evacuate them, as well as communicate with students and their universities, as it has prepared a note in this regard and everyone is awaiting approval, for the Iraqis to leave the city.

It is worth noting that, through continuous monitoring, the Embassy did not record any case for Iraqi student with this virus.

We also confirm that the embassy is working in continuous coordination with the Chinese authorities for the purpose of evacuating students from this region.

In this context, Iraq expresses its sincere wishes for overcoming this ordeal and safety for the friendly Chinese people.
