On October 20, 2013, US Ambassador to Iraq Stephen Beecroft hosted a business roundtable meeting with multiple American companies currently operating in Iraq.
During the meeting, Ambassador Beecroft acknowledged the increasing number of US companies making strategic investments in Iraq. The Ambassador reinforced that the United States is committed to optimizing trade with Iraq, as is consistent with the Strategic Framework Agreement signed by both countries.
Ambassador Beecroft also discussed continued collaboration on behalf of the US Embassy in Baghdad with the Iraqi government on issues relating to public-private partnerships, financial sector reform, and best practices in procurement.
