Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Syrian Foreign Minister Mr. Walid Al-Moallem on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly.
Minister Alhakim affirmed the depth of Iraqi-Syrian relations, and Iraq’s adherence to elevating them to broader prospects that serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples, noting the convergence of views on the need to adopt political solutions to resolve crises and not to interfere in the affairs of other countries.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. During the meeting, joint views were exchanged on bilateral relations and the current situation in the region, as the Minister presented the most important preparations for holding the elections next October and current challenges in the region, commending the support of Spain and the EU to send observers during the upcoming elections.

The Foreign Ministry denounces the raising of the European Union Mission and other foreign missions operating in Iraq of the flag of homosexuality in its headquarters for its violation of the high moral principles and values ​​respected by all divine religions in addition to its contradiction with the values, morals and social norms of our country and its provocation of sacred religious feelings and significance.

Foreign affair ministry expresses its solidarity with the government and people of the Saudi Arabia fraternal kingdom and condemn the shooting targeted the security of the peace palace in the province of Jeddah and condole the two security officers and hopes an urgent recovery for the injured.

The ministry confirms its full rejection to such attacks that threatens the kingdom’s security and stability, and stands with it in its endeavors to protect the kingdom from all kinds of crimes and terror.

Foreign minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari met the ambassadors and representatives of the diplomatic missions of the countries of Asia, Africa, America, Australia, Turkey and Iran to Iraq at the ministry's headquarter in Baghdad.

During the meeting, they reviewed the political procedures, the security developments, the war efforts against Da'esh terroristic gangs, and the relations of Iraq with other countries.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon, Minister of State for the Commonwealth and the UN, and Special Representative of the Prime Minister. During the meeting they reviewed the progress of bilateral relations between Baghdad and London and means of strengthening them to serve the interests of both countries.

With the continuation of the popular protests calling for reform, and the issuance of statements by foreign countries and international organisations, the Iraqi government affirms the respect of the will of Iraqis to claim their rights guaranteed by the Iraqi Constitution in articles 38, 39 and 40, which prove the right of Iraqis to choose their government in accordance with the contexts in force in the Iraqi democratic system and their rights guaranteed in the Constitution for freedom of expression “without prejudice to public order and morals”.
