We welcome the historic meeting that brought together the North and South Korean leaders and resulted in the announcement (Panmunjom) between the two neighbors. We hope that the two sides can take steps that contribute to enhancing security and stability on the Korean Peninsula and the world. We are confident that understanding and reconciliation is the basis for peace. We hope that the conflicts in the world will end and lead to a dialogue that establishes international security.

The Foreign Ministry expresses its rejection and condemnation of the violation of the sovereignty of Iraq by the US forces through the bombing of the headquarters of the Military , police, and the Popular Mobilization Forces which are Iraqi national forces that defended Iraq and its unity and have fought valiantly, and stopped the expansion of Da’esh to the countries of the region, and the world.

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry has followed up on the decision issued by the President of the United States of America, Mr. Donald Trump to pardon a number of those convicted of killing fourteen Iraqis and wounding others in 2007, in an incident that was denounced on international level as well as the local disapproval and rejection it created.

The Foreign Ministry expresses its surprise on the decision issued by the US Treasury against Mr. Faleh Al-Fayadh head of the Popular Mobilization Commission. We stress that the decision was an unacceptable surprise and point out that the Ministry will carefully follow up with the current and new administration in Washington all decisions issued by the US Treasury Department against Iraqi names and work to address this matter.

The Foreign Ministry appreciates the positions of friendly and brotherly countries, international organisations, as well as the calls and messages that Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received from his counterparts around the world of condolences to the government and people of Iraq following the terrorist attack that targeted the capital, Baghdad, on 21/1/2021, which left tens of martyrs and wounded.

The Air Defense Command has detected a violation of Iraqi airspace which occurred through a drone plane belonging to the Turkish army. A refugee camp was bombed near the city of Makhmur, and two women’s lives were claimed from the camp on April 15, 2020. The Foreign Ministry expresses its condemnation in the strongest possible terms for these Turkish attacks which violate Iraqi sovereignty and contradicts the principles of good-neighborliness, and represents a grave violation of international humanitarian law and the provisions of the United Nations Charter.

The Foreign Ministry denounces the raising of the European Union Mission and other foreign missions operating in Iraq of the flag of homosexuality in its headquarters for its violation of the high moral principles and values ​​respected by all divine religions in addition to its contradiction with the values, morals and social norms of our country and its provocation of sacred religious feelings and significance.

The Foreign Ministry summoned the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Iraq, Mr. Fatih Yildiz on the background of the continuing violations of the Turkish army,and recent drone bombing that struck the Sidakan area in the Erbil governorate in Kurdistan, and the martyrdom of two officers and an Iraqi army soldier.

The Foreign Ministry supports the statement issued by the Office of the former Foreign Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari that there are no recommendations to exclude a number of ministry employees who are included in the law of Accountability and Justice.

The Ministry affirms that its recent actions in this regard come in the context of the procedures that the National Commission for Accountability and justice is conducting towards a number of Ministry employees according to the laws and procedures in force.
