Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Noori al-Maliki has arrived in the United States, where he will meet with President Obama at the White House and other officials in Washington to discuss the importance of the U.S.-Iraq relationship under the SFA; and the current challenges facing Iraq and the region.

President Salih announced that, unwillingness of the voters to participate in the elections anymore is a clear evidence of necessity to amend the General Election Law as it is an urgent national entitlement to build the Iraqi State, to reform its institutions as well as eradicating the financial and administrative corruption so as to promote freedom and democracy across the country.

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani received representatives of research centers specialized in Iraq and the region at his residence in Washington. The meeting took place on the sidelines of his official visit to the United States.
At the beginning of the meeting, he emphasized the importance of this visit, coinciding with the 21st anniversary of the change in Iraq, and at a time when efforts are underway to advance the relationship with the United States to a comprehensive partnership level through joint committees. My duty is to work in accordance with the constitution to serve the citizens and protect the unity of the country, which was in danger of partition due to the insistence on holding the referendum organized by those in power in the Kurdistan region in a unilateral step, while we are fighting an existential war against terrorism.

The Atlantic Council hosted Ambassador Nazar Al Khirullah on July 26 in a seminar attended by a number of senior researchers and experts specialized in Iraqi affairs in Washington, where H.E. shed light on the priorities of the Iraqi government at political, economic & security levels, and the prospects for cooperation between both countries according Strategic Framework Agreement SFA, so as to achieve common goals and interests for Iraq & US .

The Embassy participated in the ceremony of receiving the 1st “Boeing 787” out of (10) Dreamliner aircrafts according to contract concluded between Iraq & US. The ceremony was attended by representatives of Iraqi Airways, the Civil Aviation Authority and the Boeing Company. ...

Ambassador Nazar Al Khirullah received the former US Deputy National Security Advisor, Mr. Stephen Hadley at the Embassy building as they discussed the prospects for the future of bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States of America as well as issues of common interest in the region and the world.

The conference, hosted by the U.S.-Arab Chamber of Commerce, took place August 20-22, 2013 at the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy at Salve Regina University in Rhode Island and included leaders from the corporate community and others interested in promoting economic relationships between Arab countries and the United States.
