Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Mr. Sameh Shoukry on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference / Session (56).

The two sides discussed the importance of activating security and intelligence cooperation, and exchanging information between the two countries in the field of combating terrorism.

In continuation of its efforts to re-represent Iraq in international forums, the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs culminated in the adoption of a resolution at the third session of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEA) in December 2017 entitled "Mitigation and Control of Pollution in Areas Affected by Armed Conflict or Terrorism" ), Which will allow Iraq to benefit from the support of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and a number of other countries affected by terrorism in providing support to mitigate the effects of pollution in areas hit by terrorism.

The Air Defense Command has detected a violation of Iraqi airspace which occurred through a drone plane belonging to the Turkish army. A refugee camp was bombed near the city of Makhmur, and two women’s lives were claimed from the camp on April 15, 2020. The Foreign Ministry expresses its condemnation in the strongest possible terms for these Turkish attacks which violate Iraqi sovereignty and contradicts the principles of good-neighborliness, and represents a grave violation of international humanitarian law and the provisions of the United Nations Charter.

Block. The meeting discussed the most important issues of common concern and prospects for joint cooperation in various economic, humanitarian and development fields.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim received a phone call from Ms. Ine Eriksen Søreide , Foreign Minister of Norway.
The two sides discussed the most important developments in the region, the importance of calmness and avoiding escalation and resorting to dialogue to resolve the crisis.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Ibrahim Al-Jaafari arrived in South Korea in an official visit for a few days, in the framework of promoting relations between Baghdad and Seoul and open horizons of mutual cooperation.

It's expected that the minister is to meet a number of officials, including, the South Korean Prime Minister, the Speaker of South Korea National Assembly, the President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), as well as, his Korean counterpart and Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim delivered Iraq's speech at the high-level meeting of the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, in which he affirmed the Iraqi Government's adherence to disarmament, non-proliferation and disarmament treaties to promote peace and global stability.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Dutch Foreign Minister Mr. Stef Blok and discussed prospects of improving relations between the two countries to expand bilateral cooperation to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples.
