Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns the air attack took place last night on a site on the Iraqi-Syrian border.

The Ministry reiterates its complete rejection of making Iraq a part of any conflict or confrontation to settle scores on its lands, which represents an assault and a breach of the national sovereignty and a clear violation of the international norms and covenants.

Dr Fu’ad Hussein the minister of foreign affairs has met on Sunday 18/10/2021, the U.S. special envoy for Iranian Affairs Mr Robert Maley in Abu Dhabi, during the meeting they discussed the political and security developments in the region and its reflections, and the U.S. Iranian relations and means of enhancing the introductory dialogues which were previously conducted between the two sides.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim received a phone call from the League of Arab States Secretary-General Mr.Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and discussed the latest developments in the region.

The two sides also discussed ways of cooperation between Iraq and the Arab League, as well as means of communication to serve Arab issues.

The Foreign Ministry through the efforts of our embassies deployed throughout the countries of the world, and with high efforts of the Crisis Cell and the Protocol Department at the Ministry since the start of the ban and closure procedures, and the suspension of flights have worked hard to transport Iraqis stranded in more than (22) countries, returned about (16041) citizens, by (81) air flights , (3) land trips in coordination with the Iraqi Airways , the Civil Aviation Authority, and the concerned authorities in the workplaces of our diplomatic and consular missions.

On 14 June 2021, Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein arrived in Doha, to attend two consultative and emergency meetings of Arab foreign ministers.

It is worth noting that the meeting came upon the request of the host State of Qatar due to its presidency of the current session of the Arab League Council, and that the meeting will discuss various Arab issues, primarily the Palestinian cause and its recent developments, making peace frameworks in the Gaza Strip, and the developments of the Renaissance Dam issue.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Mr. Sameh Shoukry on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference / Session (56).

The two sides discussed the importance of activating security and intelligence cooperation, and exchanging information between the two countries in the field of combating terrorism.
