My duty is to work in accordance with the constitution to serve the citizens and protect the unity of the country, which was in danger of partition due to the insistence on holding the referendum organized by those in power in the Kurdistan region in a unilateral step, while we are fighting an existential war against terrorism.

Iraqi Ambassador to the United States Lukman Faily issued the following statement in memory of the September 11 attacks:

On Saturday, May 4, The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq will join more than 75 other nations for Passport D.C.'s Around the World Embassy Tour beginning at 10 a.m.

Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari expressed Iraq's appreciation for the UN Secretary General's efforts to remove Iraq from Chapter VII sanctions and noted that Iraq has regained full sovereignty as an effective member in the international community through this resolution.

"We need and will rebuild Iraq; and we will turn the page on such horrific actions as the massacre and genocide at Halabja," said Ambassador Lukman Faily during a commemoration event at the U.S. Capitol.

The 22nd annual conference, "Navigating Arab-U.S. Relations: Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities" fostered constructive discussion and debate among distinguished international policymakers; and raised awareness, knowledge, and understanding of the American and Arab people's common interests and concerns.
