The Foreign Ministry rejects and condemns the Bahraini Foreign Minister’s Tweet about the recent attacks on Arab territories and the Popular Mobilization Forces by Zionist enemy under the pretext of self-defense.
The Popular Mobilization Forces stood by our armed forces, the police (local and federal), the Peshmerga, and the tribal fighters to defend our holy land and made great sacrifices to liberate the cities of Iraq, and to defeat Da’esh terrorist gangs.

Foreign Minister Receives a Call from his German Counterpart

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received a phone call from German Foreign Minister Mr. Heiko Maas.
The conversation focused on bilateral relations and ties between the two countries, and on the initial decision of the US administration to withdraw the embassy from Baghdad.

Minister Fuad Hussein expressed concern about this decision, despite it being a sovereign decision by the US side, but it may lead to results that are not in the interest of the Iraqi people.

The Foreign Ministry condemns the Turkish forces opening of fire on citizens in the Shiladizi area and the Sabri compound in the Amadiyah district of Duhok Governorate, which led to one death and several wounded. This was followed by Turkish military aircraft flying at low altitudes which frightened citizens.

Foreign Minister Arrives in Doha to Attend Two Consultative and Emergency Meetings of Arab Foreign Ministers

On 14 June 2021, Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein arrived in Doha, to attend two consultative and emergency meetings of Arab foreign ministers.

It is worth noting that the meeting came upon the request of the host State of Qatar due to its presidency of the current session of the Arab League Council, and that the meeting will discuss various Arab issues, primarily the Palestinian cause and its recent developments, making peace frameworks in the Gaza Strip, and the developments of the Renaissance Dam issue.

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein made an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, which began with a meeting with President Hassan Rouhani, followed by a meeting with his counterpart, Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif, and with Mr. Mohammad Baqir Qalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly.

The Air Defense Command has detected a violation of Iraqi airspace which occurred through a drone plane belonging to the Turkish army. A refugee camp was bombed near the city of Makhmur, and two women’s lives were claimed from the camp on April 15, 2020. The Foreign Ministry expresses its condemnation in the strongest possible terms for these Turkish attacks which violate Iraqi sovereignty and contradicts the principles of good-neighborliness, and represents a grave violation of international humanitarian law and the provisions of the United Nations Charter.
