Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim received a phone call from his German counterpart Mr. Heiko Maas congratulating him on his assumption of his duties as foreign minister in the elected Iraqi government.

Minister Maas stressed Germany's support for the new government and its willingness to cooperate constructively for the benefit of the two friendly countries.

On his part Minister Alhakim thanked Minister Maas and expressed his sincere desire to develop bilateral relations between Iraq and Germany and to facilitate all means to achieve common interests.

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received a phone call from his US counterpart Mr. Mike Pompeo on his assumption of office as Foreign Minister of the Republic of Iraq wishing him success.

The Minister affirmed that Iraq seeks to build balanced relations with all countries of the world, and to adopt the principle of non-interference in internal affairs, respect for the sovereignty of Iraq, achieving common interests, and independence of the Iraqi decision.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Mr. Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority, and exchanged views on the so-called (Deal of the Century), affirming Iraq’s steadfast stance towards the Palestinian issue, achieving the Palestinian people their full rights, and establishing an independent state with Alquds as its capital.

This meeting comes in the context of Iraq’s presiding over the emergency meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of Foreign Ministers.

Foreign Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari delivered a speech at the 150th Session of the Council of the League of Arab States at a ministerial level held in Cairo on September 11, 2018, in which he discussed the Iraqi file and important files on the Arab arena, especially developments in Palestine, Syria and Yemen.

On 18 June 2021, Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein participated in the opening of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, with the participation of a number of state leaders, heads of government, foreign ministers, and academics.
Mr. Hussien’s participation in this forum comes to reaffirm Iraq’s active presence in international fora, to express Iraq’s visions and stances towards regional and international issues of a political, security and economic nature.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim received a phone call from Dutch Foreign Minister Mr. Stef Blok. The latest developments in Iraq were discussed, in addition to various aspects of bilateral relations and ways of cooperation in various fields.

Foreign Minister Mohamed A. Alhakim received a phone call from his Iranian counterpart Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif, Mr. Zarif extended his congratulations to the Minister on assuming the duties of Foreign Ministry in the elected Iraqi government and expressed his hope that the bilateral relations will develop significantly during his tenure.

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received a phone call from Iranian Foreign Minister Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif on the occasion of his assumption of the post of Foreign Minister of Republic of Iraq.
The two sides praised the relations achieved between Baghdad and Tehran, and the cooperation between the two countries to achieve the ambition of the two friendly peoples.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with the High Representative of the Secretary-General of the Alliance of Civilizations Mr. Miguel Ángel Moratinos on the sidelines of the 74th UN General Assembly in New York.
