President Mourns Loss of Life at Imam Hussein Shrine, Demands Investigations

Statement: Ministry of Foreign Affairs Condemns Terrorist Attack in Ahwaz

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry expressed its strong condemnation and for the terrorist attack on Ahwaz, which resulted in the deaths of several members of the Iranian security services and civilians.

The Foreign Ministry reiterates Iraq's firm stance on the rejection of violence regardless of motives, reasons and in any country, which would tarnish the security and stability of the country.

The ministry expresses its condolences to the victims' families, the government and the people of the Islamic Republic, and wishes the wounded speedy recovery.

President Barham Salih on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, mourned the Iraqi Archeologist Dr. Lamia al-Gilani, who passed away at the age of 80, in Amman.
His Excellency lauded the prestigious status of the deceased and her distinguished efforts in the field of archeology.
