The Iraqi Foreign Ministry expressed its strong condemnation and for the terrorist attack on Ahwaz, which resulted in the deaths of several members of the Iranian security services and civilians.

The Foreign Ministry reiterates Iraq's firm stance on the rejection of violence regardless of motives, reasons and in any country, which would tarnish the security and stability of the country.

The ministry expresses its condolences to the victims' families, the government and the people of the Islamic Republic, and wishes the wounded speedy recovery.

President Barham Salih on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, mourned the Iraqi Archeologist Dr. Lamia al-Gilani, who passed away at the age of 80, in Amman.
His Excellency lauded the prestigious status of the deceased and her distinguished efforts in the field of archeology.

"We have received with deep pain and grief the news about the death of archaeologist Dr. Lamia al-Gilani, one of the first Iraqi women, who excavated the rich archaeological heritage of the country, and she was an expert in Sumerian seals.

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington organized a cultural event on January 31, 2024, hosting a group of members of the organization (THIS), which includes foreign diplomats and diplomats' spouses residing in Washington. This event familiarized the audience deeply with the rich and diverse Iraqi customs and traditions; it featured screenings of short films that highlight the history and achievements of the ancient civilization of Mesopotamia to humanity. ...
