Adding that “ Iraq has achieved great progress that led in 2019 to be delisted from the global list of International Financial Action Task Force (FATF) for countries with strategic deficiencies in their AML/CFT process”

His Excellency Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki met with the Iraqi Businesswomen’s Council this week, where he affirmed the role of Iraqi women in business, investment and Iraq’s overall economic development.

Ambassador Nazar Al Khirullah met with the President of the National Endowment for Democracy, Mr. Damon Mac Wilson, along with his specialized research team in the Middle East and Iraq regions. Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani welcomed a delegation from the American company Baker Hughes at his residence in Washington, D.C., early Thursday morning (Baghdad time).
During the meeting, they discussed the company`s operations in Iraq in the oil and gas sectors. The Prime Minister stressed that gas projects are a priority for the government to meet the needs of power stations and to stop the environmental damage caused by gas flaring. He encouraged the company to contribute to establishing a chemical plant for materials used in drilling and oil extraction processes.

The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi met the US Vice President Mike Pence.

The meeting discussed the relations between Baghdad and Washington, files of mutual interest and continued cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

Efforts to eliminate terrorism, combat extremist ideology, eliminate funding sources and the continue of US-led international coalition to provide security and intelligence support to Iraq were also discussed.

In collaboration with the US Business Council in Iraq, the US Chamber of Commerce welcomed Foreign Minister Zebari back to the United States with a reception to discuss trade and investment opportunities for US businesses in Iraq.
