The President emphasized that the strategic partnership with the United States of America is essential for Iraq as the country is committed to its balanced policy that builds bridges of friendship and cooperation with all friends and neighbors, including Iran.

Joint Statement on the Iraq-U.S. Higher Coordinating Committee

The delegation of the Republic of Iraq, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning Mohammed Tamim, and the delegation of the United States Government, led by Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, co-chaired a meeting of the Higher Coordinating Committee on April 15, in accordance with the 2008 Iraq-U.S. Strategic Framework Agreement. Statement by Iraqi Ministry of Defense Denying the Alleged Arms Purchases with Iran

The Government of Iraq today steadfastly denied that it has signed any contracts to buy military weapons, ammunition or other military equipment from Iran, as alleged in some recent news reports. In a statement, Iraq’s Ministry of Defense explained that numerous international firms, including Iran’s Defense Industries Organization, recently submitted offers to provide Iraq with military hardware, but the proposal from Iran was rejected.

Iraq Accepts Repatriation of Five Precious Antiquities by Manhattan District Attorney’s Office
