Al-Halboosi meets US Vice President

The Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halboosi met the US Vice President Mike Pence.

The meeting discussed the relations between Baghdad and Washington, files of mutual interest and continued cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

Efforts to eliminate terrorism, combat extremist ideology, eliminate funding sources and the continue of US-led international coalition to provide security and intelligence support to Iraq were also discussed.

Study in Iraq" Program Launched to Attract International Students for the 2024/2025 Academic Year

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington is pleased to announce the launch of the "Study in Iraq" program aimed at attracting international students to Iraqi universities for the 2024/2025 academic year. The program offers 14,322 academic seats from 59 governmental and private Iraqi universities. 57% of these seats are allocated to full scholarships, while 43% are for partial scholarships. WASHINGTON, DC – The Atlantic Council’s Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security welcomed the Ambassador of Iraq, His Excellency Lukman Faily, at a roundtable discussion with fellow ambassadors from Chile, Czech Republic, Morocco and Singapore to discuss diplomacy beyond the nation-state with regards to the 2015 QDDR (Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review). Joining them in the discussion chaired by Atlantic Council President & CEO, Frederick Kempe was Hon. Paula Dobriansky and the Special Representative for the QDDR, Hon. Thomas Perriello.

The Foreign Minister Stresses Importance of Maintaining Communication with the Investigation Team for Da’esh Crimes in Respect for Sovereignty and Jurisdiction of the Iraqi Judiciary

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received Mr. Karim Khan the Special Adviser and Head of the United Nations Investigation Team for the accountability for crimes committed by Da’esh.

During the meeting, a number of issues were discussed including, exchanging views on ways to enhance joint cooperation, maintaining contact with the adviser and his team in light of respect for Iraqi sovereignty, and the competence of the Iraqi judiciary to collect evidence to contribute to accountability of those involved, and to uncover and document the crimes of Da’esh.
