President Salih arrived in Erbil this afternoon.
His Excellency was received by Mr. Nechirvan Barzani, President of Iraqi Kurdistan Region, and Mr. Firsat Sofi, the Governor of Erbil, at the Erbil International Airport, along with various senior staff.
President Salih plans on holding meetings with a number of senior officials in the Kurdistan Region to discuss lingering issues between the Federal Iraqi Government and the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government.

On July 26, Ambassador Nazar Al Khirullah discussed with member of House of Representatives, Republican Rich McCormick, member of both committees, Foreign Affairs & Armed Forces, a set of bilateral issues regarding political, economic and security relations, according to Strategic Framework Agreement SFA & partnership between both countries.

President Barham Salih received the Turkish Foreign Minister Mouloud Gawishoglu, in Erbil, Monday, June 10, 2019, and discussed with him the latest political developments in the region.
During the meeting, they emphasized the need for cooperation and coordination as well as the adoption of keen dialogue among all parties in order to unify efforts to address the current crises and to steer clear of the language of threat so that the peoples of the region enjoy stability, security and economic prosperity.

Ambassador Nazar Al Khirullah met with the President of the National Endowment for Democracy, Mr. Damon Mac Wilson, along with his specialized research team in the Middle East and Iraq regions. His Excellency Prime Minister, The commander in chief of the armed forces Dr.Haider Al-Abadi has expressed condolences for the death of the Commander of the First Special Operations Major General Fadhil Barwari, who was present in the war against Daesh's terror with courage; we extend our condolences for the counter-terrorism service's soldiers and to his family, to Allah we belong and to him we shall return.

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq and its employees extends its most sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the families of the victims of the tragic fire that occurred 24th of April 2021, at Baghdad’s Ibn AL khatib Hospital.


We ask God Almighty, during these blessed days of the holy month of Ramadan, to have mercy on the souls of the innocent martyrs, grant patience and solace for their families and loved ones, and a speedy recovery for the wounded and injured.

President Barham Salih received Mr. Mike Pompeo, the US Secretary of State, at the Presidential Office in Baghdad, Tuesday evening, May 7, 2019.
The President emphasized that the strategic partnership with the United States of America is essential for Iraq as the country is committed to its balanced policy that builds bridges of friendship and cooperation with all friends and neighbors, including Iran.
President Salih asserted Iraq's keenness to develop bilateral relations between the two countries and with the rest of brotherly and friendly countries in various fields.
