Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim gave a lecture at the Dutch Clingendael Institute of International Relations, titled: “Iraq in the Middle East: Battleground or Bridge Building.”

The Crisis Cell at the Foreign Ministry held a meeting to discuss procedures for facilitating the return of Iraqi citizens stranded in a number of countries, in cooperation with our missions abroad and in coordination with the Ministry of Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority. In addition to travel procedures for diplomats working in Iraq and resident foreign communities.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Jordanian Foreign Minister Mr. Ayman Al-Safadi on the sidelines of the Davos Economic Forum in Switzerland.

Minister Alhakim stressed Iraq's pride in the close and distinguished relations between the two countries, expressing at the same time Baghdad's keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation and develop channels of communication and consultation on regional issues in support of solidarity and joint action in facing the various challenges in the region, and achieving the hopes of the two peoples for greater stability and prosperity

Iraqi Foreign Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari met with the UN Secretary-General's Special Adviser on Sexual Violence in Armed Conflict, Ms. Pramila Patten, on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The meeting reviewed the overall situation in Iraq and the efforts made by international organizations to support Iraq in various fields.

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received a phone call from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Prince Faisal Bin Farhan, on his assumption of the post of Foreign Minister of Republic of Iraq.

Prince Faisal expressed his congratulations and best wishes to His Excellency Minister Fuad Hussein for the successful performance of his duties.
