President Barham Saleh accompanied by Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim attended a ceremony and reception of President Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi for the Iraqi delegation in the presence of the Ministers of Trade and Culture on the sidelines of the LAS-European summit in Sharm el-Sheikh.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Ms. Sigrid Kaag as part of his visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands to strengthen bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and increase coordination in international issues of common interest, especially those related to investment in the fields of agriculture, livestock and management, water, support of private sector, and benefit from the Dutch experience in creating jobs for young people in Iraq.

"Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns and denounces the two terrorist attacks that targeted Besiktas city, in central Istanbul. The Ministry extends its deepest condolences to the Turkish Government, its people, and families of the victims. It also reiterates the need for countering terrorism through a regional consolidated strategy, and eradicating terrorism's sources of finance and its supporters."

The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its rejection and condemnation of the air operations targeting the forces located in the areas of fighting Da'esh, whether in Iraq, Syria or any other place in the arena of confronting this enemy which threatens humanity.

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received phone call from Mr. Masoud Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and Mr. Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region.
During the call they expressed their wishes to the Minister for success in his duties, and to administer diplomatic work to achieve a steady advance in Iraq’s relations with the world, and achieve the interests of the people and their aspiration towards progress and prosperity.

Minister Alhakim stressed the need to expedite the process of appointing the Ambassador of Iraq to the Republic of Cyprus, and called for the convening of the quartet meeting of foreign ministers: Iraq, Jordan, Greece and Cyprus; in line with what was agreed at the tripartite summit held in Amman on 14/4/2019, Minister Alhakim pointed to the importance of the World Conference on Reconstruction and Development in Iraq scheduled to be held in Nicosia from 6-12 12/2019.

The Foreign Ministry is following with great interest the situation of Iraqi students studying in China after the authorities closed the city of Wuhan, where they reside due to the spread of Coronavirus.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Mr. Adam Kinzinger, US Congressman and member of the House Committee for Foreign Affaires and Iraq Friendship Committee in the US Congress on 7, Feb. 2019 at the US Congress.

Minister Alhakim stressed that the foundations of Iraqi foreign policy are based on the principle of openness to neighboring countries and the world, and avoiding the axis of conflict and explained that Iraq today is a place of meeting, not conflict , and that work is ongoing to achieve the aspirations of the people.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim gave the opening speech at the first session of the Ministerial Council at its 152nd regular session at the level of Foreign Ministers.
