Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein during his visit to Brussels, which is the second round of his official tour to European countries, stated that Iraq is a promising country and has the future, adding that “We are trying to make clear to neighboring countries that we want to establish balanced relations … We ask neighboring countries to respect the sovereignty of Iraq, and not to interfere in its affairs.”

This came during the hosting of the Minister by the European Press Club in the Belgian capital, Brussels.

Republic of Iraq Issues $1 Billion Bond Guaranteed by US Government

BAGHDAD (Jan. 18, 2017) – The Republic of Iraq today completed the issuance of an $1 billion 5-year Guaranteed bond priced at the level of 27 basis points over 5-year US Treasury Notes with a coupon of 2.149 percent per year, payable semi-annually. The Notes benefit from a full faith and credit guarantee of the United States, acting through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Conference TARII

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington held an evening reception for a group of Iraqi and foreign professors and researchers who participated in the TARII Conference, a conference in which the embassy participated and discussed over two days (3-4 November) the various pieces of research regarding Iraq's history and its present culture. Reconstruction Board Bill Sent to Parliament After Approval by Council of Ministers

On Tuesday, September 17, 2019, the Council of Ministers approved the draft law that would create a Reconstruction Board. It will now be jointly submitted to the House of Representatives by the Presidency of the Republic and the Council of Ministers.
The draft law provides a framework for quickly launching major infrastructure projects across the country, including roads, bridges, airports, and seaports.
The draft law also aims at alleviating general unemployment by promoting investment, employing a wide array of capable individuals in a variety of different sectors.

The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington is pleased to announce the launch of the "Study in Iraq" program aimed at attracting international students to Iraqi universities for the 2024/2025 academic year.
