On July 26, Ambassador Nazar Al Khirullah discussed with member of House of Representatives, Republican Rich McCormick, member of both committees, Foreign Affairs & Armed Forces, a set of bilateral issues regarding political, economic and security relations, according to Strategic Framework Agreement SFA & partnership between both countries.

Meeting today with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel, in Davos, Switzerland, President Salih emphasized that Iraq is looking forward to building productive relations and having extensive and close ties with Germany across all the fields so as to serve the interests of both friendly nations.

President Salih sent a letter of condolences today to the national cultural and literary community upon hearing about the tragic passing of the Secretary General of the Union of Iraqi Writers, Ibrahim al-Khayat.
The following is the text of the condolence from President Salih:
In the name of Allah, most merciful and most gracious,
With heavy hearts, we are stunned to learn the tragic news about the passing of one of Iraq’s great writers and poets, Ibrahim al-Khayat.

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani welcomed a delegation from the American company Baker Hughes at his residence in Washington, D.C., early Thursday morning (Baghdad time).
During the meeting, they discussed the company`s operations in Iraq in the oil and gas sectors. The Prime Minister stressed that gas projects are a priority for the government to meet the needs of power stations and to stop the environmental damage caused by gas flaring. He encouraged the company to contribute to establishing a chemical plant for materials used in drilling and oil extraction processes.

On July 13, Ambassador Al Khirullah met with Steve Lutes, Vice President of Middle East Affairs at US Chamber of Commerce and Head of Iraqi-American Business Council (USIBC) and discussed with him the meetings’ outcome of the Iraqi-American Business Council’s delegation visit to Iraq last June, highlighting the government’s orientation towards boosting commercial relations and partnership between the private sector of both countries; and reviewing the government’s priorities on energy, renewable energy, desalination and cooperation in health sector between both countries’ institutes. ...... President Salih met His Excellency Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, in New York today. He began the meeting by noting the incredible resurgence of business and civic life that Iraq is experiencing.
President Salih went on to highlight the need to support hard-won stability in Iraq, and to complete the victory against terrorism through construction and development. He also noted the importance of working to develop more positive regional dynamics so as to enhance security and stability.

President Barham Salih arrived in the city of Erbil, Monday, June 10, 2019, to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the President of Kurdistan Region.
His Excellency was received at Erbil International Airport by Messrs. Nechirvan Barzani, Qubad Talabani, and senior officials of Kurdistan Region.
