At the beginning of the meeting, the French President welcomed the Prime Minister, stressing the great interest in this visit and expressed the common desire of the two countries to develop friendly relations and cooperation. He also congratulated the victories achieved by the Iraqi forces and the success achieved by Iraqis in liberating their country.

The two leaders held a bilateral meeting and then proceeded to preside over the joint expanded governmental meeting, followed by a joint press conference.

Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Noori al-Maliki has arrived in the United States, where he will meet with President Obama at the White House and other officials in Washington to discuss the importance of the U.S.-Iraq relationship under the SFA; and the current challenges facing Iraq and the region.

We extend our deep condolences to the Iraqi people and the Christian Brothers in particular for the death of Cardinal Emmanuel III Delly. We will always remember his call for peace, love and national unity for all Iraqis.

Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki recently sat down with the Washington Post’s Loveday Morris in Baghdad to discuss the government's strategy to fight al-Qaeda in Anbar province, in addition to providing an overview on military cooperation with the United States.

In a New York Times op-ed, Prime Minister Maliki says Iraq seeks more training, education, practice — and patience; and his country wants to walk the road to security, democracy and prosperity with the United States.

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani visited the Iraqi Embassy in Washington during his official visit to the United States. The Prime Minister reviewed the embassy`s work and the performance of its staff, praising the efforts made during his official visit to the United States and the excellent organization, particularly commending the Iraqi Ambassador to the United States. He urged the embassy team to exert more effort and prioritize Iraq`s service and reputation in every action and step taken.

Prime Minister Al-Sudani remarked that the current government represents all of Iraq`s components, supported by a significant political coalition. The public`s optimism and satisfaction, he mentioned, are evident from the security and political stability that has been encouraging good governance and service delivery. During his official visit to the United States, Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met with U.S. Secretary of State Mr. Antony Blinken on Monday evening, Baghdad time.
