The Iraqi ministry of foreign affairs expresses its deep sorrow for the terrible gunfire attack that attacked innocents' souls in the American state of Las Vegas and affirms its solidarity with the American government and the American people in this painful plight, and condolences victims' families and relatives and wishes a quick recovery for the injured.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim received a phone call from the League of Arab States Secretary-General Mr.Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and discussed the latest developments in the region.

The two sides also discussed ways of cooperation between Iraq and the Arab League, as well as means of communication to serve Arab issues.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Ibrahim Al-Jaafari arrived in South Korea in an official visit for a few days, in the framework of promoting relations between Baghdad and Seoul and open horizons of mutual cooperation.

It's expected that the minister is to meet a number of officials, including, the South Korean Prime Minister, the Speaker of South Korea National Assembly, the President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), as well as, his Korean counterpart and Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The Foreign Ministry through the efforts of our embassies deployed throughout the countries of the world, and with high efforts of the Crisis Cell and the Protocol Department at the Ministry since the start of the ban and closure procedures, and the suspension of flights have worked hard to transport Iraqis stranded in more than (22) countries, returned about (16041) citizens, by (81) air flights , (3) land trips in coordination with the Iraqi Airways , the Civil Aviation Authority, and the concerned authorities in the workplaces of our diplomatic and consular missions.

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received the Iranian Foreign Minister Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif, and the two sides held extensive discussions related to developing relations between the two countries, and ways to advance bilateral cooperation.

Minister Fuad Hussein praised the close historical relations, joint cooperation and unity of visions that bind the two countries, stressing his keenness to enhance and consolidate cooperation with Tehran in various fields in a way that benefits the interests of the two peoples.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Mr. Filippo Grandi in Geneva on the sidelines of the 40th session of the Human Rights Council.

The meeting discussed the humanitarian situation in Iraq and stressed the need of Iraq for the efforts of the United Nations and humanitarian organizations because the legacy of the war on terror was very strong on the Iraqis and called for the importance of expanding the work of the UNHCR and providing more necessary supplies for displaced families , expressing thanks and appreciation for the efforts... Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Mr. Sameh Shoukry on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference / Session (56).

The two sides discussed the importance of activating security and intelligence cooperation, and exchanging information between the two countries in the field of combating terrorism.

FM Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari received the ambassador of USA in Baghdad Mr. Doghlas Siliman at the ministry's headquarter in Baghdad on Sunday 10 September 2017.
