President Salih arrived in Erbil this afternoon.
His Excellency was received by Mr. Nechirvan Barzani, President of Iraqi Kurdistan Region, and Mr. Firsat Sofi, the Governor of Erbil, at the Erbil International Airport, along with various senior staff.
President Salih plans on holding meetings with a number of senior officials in the Kurdistan Region to discuss lingering issues between the Federal Iraqi Government and the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government.

The President Mourns with Victims of Anfal Genocide

President Salih met today with dozens of family members who lost loved ones during the infamous Anfal genocide of the 1980s.

Taking care to listen to all their concerns in the Al Salam Palace in Baghdad, the President stated clearly that this violence was a genocidal act aimed at the Kurdish people and will forever be a wound that is never fully healed in the hearts of all Iraqis. President Barham Salih on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, mourned the Iraqi Archeologist Dr. Lamia al-Gilani, who passed away at the age of 80, in Amman.
His Excellency lauded the prestigious status of the deceased and her distinguished efforts in the field of archeology.
