Iraqi Foreign Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari met with Mr. Karim Khan, Special Adviser and head of the Investigative of Accountability of Daesh crimes. The two sides discussed the mechanisms of the investigation team and the ways to achieve its mission in Iraq.

Minister Al- Jaafari stressed Iraq's readiness to provide full support for the success of the team's mission, stressing the importance of cooperation with the Iraqi government.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari met with UN Secretary General Mr. António Guterres on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly in New York. The meeting reviewed the security, regional, international and political developments in Iraq, and the role played by the United Nations in Iraq , in addition to the importance of further efforts, coordination to assist Iraq in reconstruction, the return of displaced families to their areas of residence and support for security and stability.

Foreign Minister Dr. Al-Jaafari concluded his representation for Iraq at 73rd Session of United Nations General Assembly in New York by meeting with the staff of Iraq's representtion to the United Nations.

He praised the efforts made by the staff of the mission to make Iraq's representation in the meetings of the United Nations a success , stressing that Iraq has broken the isolation that it faced for many years and was able to extend bridges with all countries of the world and mobilize international efforts to help it in its war against Daesh terrorist gangs. Foreign Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari met with Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad in Damascus and discussed the enhancement of joint cooperation and the opening of the border crossings between the two countries, in addition to reviewing the developments taking place in the region and internationally.

Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al-Jaafari and his Lebanese counterpart, Mr. Gibran Bassil, held a press conference in Beirut on bilateral relations and reviewed the developments in the Arab, regional and international region.

Dr. Al- Jaafari stressed at the conference that Iraq is taking excellent steps towards integration, after Iraq managed to defeat terrorism. Foreign Minister Mohamed A. Alhakim received on Thursday 25/10/2018 a telephone call from US Secretary of State Mr. Mike Pompeo on the occasion of assuming duties of Foreign Ministry in the elected Iraqi Government.

Mr. Pompeo expressed the hope that the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries will witness further development and prosperity in all fields.

Foreign Minister Mohamed A. Alhakim received a phone call from his Iranian counterpart Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif, Mr. Zarif extended his congratulations to the Minister on assuming the duties of Foreign Ministry in the elected Iraqi government and expressed his hope that the bilateral relations will develop significantly during his tenure.

Foreign Minister Mohamed A. Al-hakim received on Thursday 25/10/2018 a telephone call from Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Mr. Safadi congratulated the minister on the occasion of assuming the duties of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, expressing his hope for further efforts to consolidate the ties of friendship and brotherhood and to strengthen the cooperation relations between the two countries.
