The Ministry of Foreign Affairs declares the de-listing of Iraq from the European Union’s list of high- risks countries in the field of combating money laundering and financing of terrorism.

This came in a letter delivered by the European Commission mission on 9/1/2022 to the Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhemi, in which it congratulated Iraq on the great measures and efforts that have been taken to improve the anti-money laundering system and combat the financing of terrorism.

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein praised the historical Iraqi-Kuwaiti relations, and the steady progress they are witnessing, stating that Kuwait and Saudi Arabia are the gates of Iraq to the Gulf, and called for the importance of creating a mechanism for joint action with the Gulf Cooperation Council in light of the presidency of the State of Kuwait, inviting Mr. Nayef Al-Hajraf to visit Baghdad within the framework of activating relations, and bridging ways of understanding between Iraq and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim signed with his Saudi Arabian counterpart Mr. Ibrahim Al-Asaf a memorandum of understanding on political consultations between the two countries.

This memorandum will be of great importance as it will open the horizons of bilateral political and broad discussions, thus contributing to the convergence of views on issues of mutual interest and the realization of a common vision for further cooperation on many issues.

Foreign Minister Mohamed A. Alhakim reviewed the most important directions of the Foreign Ministry for the coming period during his reception of Iraqi journalists and media personnel’s from various media organizations in the ministry building and briefed them on the last period since assuming his post for the past two months.

Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein met with the President of the Association of the Christian Pilgrimage Foundation at the Vatican Opera Romana.
At the outset of the meeting, the president of the association said that the Iraqi city of Ur represents the Prophet Abraham and he is for all mankind and our roots are there, and the pilgrimage to Ur will make us feel that we are sons of the One God, thus; we all represent the heavenly religions.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim received the Omani Foreign Minister Mr. Yousuf Bin Alawi and discussed bilateral relations, as well as exchanging views on regional issues of common concern.
Minister Alhakim stressed the aspiration of Baghdad to enhance cooperation in various fields, and coordinate with Oman for the good and interest of the two brotherly peoples.

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with the US Ambassador to Baghdad Mr. Matthew Tueller.

The two sides discussed ways to improve the prospects of bilateral and strategic relations between Baghdad and Washington, and the importance of activating means of bilateral cooperation in order to achieve the interests of both friendly countries.

Iraq is currently a member of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations General Assembly from 2017 to the end of 2019, and we have had an active role in it, and we worked hard to keep the Council’s resolutions and actions from politicization.

Foreign Minister Mohamad A. Alhakim confirmed that the government dealt with the demonstrations that Iraq witnessed as true demands, so it made quick measures to meet these demands and formed sub-committees in the Governorates to determine the needs and made direct dialogue.
