The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington, in cooperation with the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage is following up the sale of the Assyrian antiquities exhibited at the Christi auction belonging to the period of Assyrian Governor Ashurnasirpal II , which was exhibited at the Theological Seminary of Virginia. To prove its belonging to Iraq, the Iraqi embassy communicated with the parties involved and informed that this piece is under the protection of the law of Antiquities of Iraq.

Foreign Minister Mohammad A. Alhakim received a phone call from his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, congratulating him on assuming his duties as Foreign Minister in the elected Iraqi government.

Foreign Minister Mohamed A. Al-hakim received on Thursday 25/10/2018 a telephone call from Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Mr. Safadi congratulated the minister on the occasion of assuming the duties of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, expressing his hope for further efforts to consolidate the ties of friendship and brotherhood and to strengthen the cooperation relations between the two countries.

Foreign Minister Mohamed A. Alhakim received a phone call from his Iranian counterpart Mr. Mohammad Javad Zarif, Mr. Zarif extended his congratulations to the Minister on assuming the duties of Foreign Ministry in the elected Iraqi government and expressed his hope that the bilateral relations will develop significantly during his tenure.

Foreign Minister Mohamed A. Alhakim received on Thursday 25/10/2018 a telephone call from US Secretary of State Mr. Mike Pompeo on the occasion of assuming duties of Foreign Ministry in the elected Iraqi Government.

Mr. Pompeo expressed the hope that the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries will witness further development and prosperity in all fields.

Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al-Jaafari and his Lebanese counterpart, Mr. Gibran Bassil, held a press conference in Beirut on bilateral relations and reviewed the developments in the Arab, regional and international region.

Dr. Al- Jaafari stressed at the conference that Iraq is taking excellent steps towards integration, after Iraq managed to defeat terrorism. Foreign Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari met with Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad in Damascus and discussed the enhancement of joint cooperation and the opening of the border crossings between the two countries, in addition to reviewing the developments taking place in the region and internationally.

Foreign Minister Dr. Al-Jaafari concluded his representation for Iraq at 73rd Session of United Nations General Assembly in New York by meeting with the staff of Iraq's representtion to the United Nations.

He praised the efforts made by the staff of the mission to make Iraq's representation in the meetings of the United Nations a success , stressing that Iraq has broken the isolation that it faced for many years and was able to extend bridges with all countries of the world and mobilize international efforts to help it in its war against Daesh terrorist gangs.
