President Salih met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel today in New York City on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
President Salih and Chancellor Merkel examined ways to improve ties across all fields between Iraq and Germany, noting the friendly historic relations between the two countries

President Salih received today at his residence in Davos NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg. The two leaders discussed the last decision of the Council of Representatives on the withdrawal of foreign forces from Iraq, stressed the importance of respecting Iraq's sovereignty and its independent decision.
Developments of the security situation, in addition to the necessity of uprooting terrorism and supporting security and stability in Iraq and the region, have been reviewed by the two sides.

"We are pleased that the final defense authorization bill continues Congressional support for a unified Iraq. This legislation helps to ensure that our government and security forces have the resources, training, and military capabilities necessary to defeat the violent and persistent threat of Daesh."

Ambassador Nazar Al Khirullah welcomed the Emir of Yazidis at the Embassy during his visit to Washington DC; they explored opportunities to enhance cooperation with the Embassy and expand support opportunities to the Yazidi community residing in USA. Mr. Nabil Elaraby contacted Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari to welcome Iraq's exit from Chapter VII sanctions and said he considers the decision an historical achievement.

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein stated that “Iraq notes with regret the European Commission proposed revised list of “high risk” countries on money laundering and the financing of terrorism

Adding that “ Iraq has achieved great progress that led in 2019 to be delisted from the global list of International Financial Action Task Force (FATF) for countries with strategic deficiencies in their AML/CFT process”
