Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim gave a lecture titled (Iraqi Foreign Policy in light of the Regional and International Environment Variables) at the National Defense College at the University of Defense for Military Studies.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Iranian Foreign Minister Mr. Muhammad Javad Zarif, and discussed bilateral relations, Minister Alhakim expressed Iraq’s keenness to establish strong relations with neighbouring countries, to stay away from bias policy and to avoid any regional and international conflicts.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim received a phone call from Egyptian Foreign Minister Mr. Sameh Shoukry. The two sides discussed the most important issues at the local level, and the necessity of activating the common interests between the two countries.

The two sides agreed to continue consultations and bilateral coordination on Arab and regional issues in order to find political approaches that contribute to defusing tensions and maintaining the security of the region.

The Foreign Ministry condemns in the strongest possible terms the attack carried out by the Turkish side, which resulted in loss of life and property, the Foreign Minister directed the summoning of the Turkish Ambassador in Baghdad to deliver him a letter of protest.

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry has followed up on the decision issued by the President of the United States of America, Mr. Donald Trump to pardon a number of those convicted of killing fourteen Iraqis and wounding others in 2007, in an incident that was denounced on international level as well as the local disapproval and rejection it created.

Foreign Minister Mohamed A. Alhakim received a telephone call from United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed congratulating him on assuming his duties as Foreign Minister in the new Iraqi government.

Sheikh Abdullah affirmed the support of the UAE government for the government and people of Iraq and its support for the democratic process and the building and reconstruction phase.

Foreign Minister. H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein met on 14 June 2021 with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E. Mr. Sameh Shoukry, on the sidelines of his visit to Doha to participate in the consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers hosted by the State of Qatar.
They discussed ways to advance bilateral relations, and mutual interest in developing them in all fields.

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Syrian Foreign Minister Mr. Walid Al-Moallem on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly.
Minister Alhakim affirmed the depth of Iraqi-Syrian relations, and Iraq’s adherence to elevating them to broader prospects that serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples, noting the convergence of views on the need to adopt political solutions to resolve crises and not to interfere in the affairs of other countries.

Foreign Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Jaafari arrived in New York to represent Iraq in the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Dr. Al-Jaafari is expected to meet with foreign ministers, officials from several countries of the world, to discuss joint cooperation and strengthen relations and mobilize efforts to continue to stand by Iraq and contribute to the reconstruction of Iraqi cities.
